Kristen Reid is pursuing a Master’s degree in the Theatre MFA Program at Columbia University School of Arts, New York. Upon completion of her studies, Kristen plans to return to the Cayman Islands and help create a cultural hub in the Caribbean for theatre and film.
Kristen attended Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama from 2018 to 2022 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Media with a minor in Political Science. While attending Oakwood, she participated in several theatre productions and choral concerts. After graduating, she has gained theatre experience interning in Los Angeles and the Cayman Islands.
Kristen’s awards and honors include the AT&T Dream in Black Rising Future Maker 2021, Truth Initiative Change Maker 2022, Cayman Islands National Festival of the Arts Gold Award Recipient for Vocal and Drama.
The Thomson Leadership and Innovation Award is a scholarship created by The Peter N. Thomson Family Foundation designed to recruit and support Caymanian students who are driven to improve the Cayman Islands in areas including, but not limited to, entrepreneurial studies, emerging technologies, design and creative arts and/or the sciences.
